About Western Arizona Council of Governments

Founded in 1971, WACOG is a governmental non-profit that is dedicated to serving its local jurisdictions, income challenged households, and vulnerable populations in Yuma, La Paz, and Mohave Counties.

Our Head Start program has served western Arizona for over five decades with a comprehensive early childhood education program for preschool age children that have economic and/or disability challenges. Our program offers a broad range of individualized services in the areas of education and child development, special education, health services, nutrition, and parent/family development that is responsive as well as appropriate to each family's ethnic, cultural, and linguistic heritage. Current annual enrollment is 1,000 children in twenty-one Head Start Centers throughout the tri-county service area.
