Sundrops Montessori School Daniel Island Campus in Charleston, SC is seeking a qualified Early Childhood - Teacher Assistant to work with Infant / Toddler (0–2) in a montessori environment. This position requires no formal credential — just relevant experience.
The Teacher Assistant plays a crucial role in supporting Teachers in creating a nurturing and secure environment for children, while contributing to the delivery of high-quality education. To excel in this position, one must possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, enabling them to work collaboratively with others in a team-based environment. By actively participating in educational programs and fostering positive relationships with children, parents, and staff, the Teacher Assistant gathers essential information on children's interests and progress, which is then shared with parents and staff. Under the guidance of the Teacher and Director, the Teacher Assistant is responsible for designing and implementing engaging activities tailored to children's interests and needs.
What You'll Do
- Contribute to the implementation of curriculum activities, encouraging children to participate and engage actively.
- Responsibly manage classroom materials, ensuring cleanliness, maintenance, and availability.
- Model self-help and good hygiene behaviors to promote positive habits in children.
- Streamline daily transitions from home to school, ensuring a smooth and seamless experience.
- Adhere to all center policies and state regulations.
- Pursue ongoing professional development to enhance skills and maintain continuous quality improvement.
Requirements
A high level of energy is required.
- Must be able to work well with others.
- Possess strong oral and written communication skills and basic computer skills.
- Have a basic understanding of child development.
- Exhibit excellent leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Must pass a full background check and health screening.
Nice to Have
Previous experience working with small children would be an asset.
Knowledge of the Montessori method is also desirable.
