About This Role
This School Age Before and After Care Teacher opportunity at Reston Children's Center serves School Age (5–12) and requires a willingness to earn a Child Development Associate (CDA) credential, with employer support. Based in Reston, VA, candidates bring experience in early childhood education and development.
Reston Children's Center is looking for a fun, energetic and creative individual who likes working with children to join our School Age program. The School Age program provides a "Home away from home" for children in kindergarten to sixth grade who need care before and after their standard school day. Your days will be spent playing sports and games, doing arts and crafts and hanging out with children aged 5 - 12.
What You'll Do
- Play, Create and Host games and activities that promote and nurture children's physical, psychological and emotional development.
- Assist in making sure Children get to and from buses and/or bus stops both in the morning and afternoon.
- Provide a safe and nurturing environment where children feel comfortable and empowered.
- Help with serving snacks and meals as necessary according to the day.
- Assist in maintaining USDA meal counts.
- Assist in maintaining daily attendance and head counts.
- Participate in field trips both in preparation and while offsite.
- Help with the planning of daily activities both inside and outside.
- Understand ratios, communicate with fellow teachers and work together to make sure that all areas inside and outside are covered appropriately.
- Operate as a substitute at times for teachers in other programs when needed.
- Maintain open and positive communication with parents and guardians.
- Ensure the health and safety of all children, adhering to school policies and state regulations
- Other duties as needed

Requirements
- Must be 18 years or older
- High School Diploma
- Reliable transportation

- Patience, creativity and a genuine love for working with young children.
- Prior experience working with children.
