About This Role

The UU World of Children is seeking caring and dependable Substitute Teachers to join our team. Substitutes provide support in the classroom on an as-needed basis, Monday through Friday between the hours of 7:00am and 5:30pm. This role is ideal for individuals who enjoy working with young children, value a nurturing learning environment, and want a flexible schedule.

What You'll Do

As a substitute assistant teacher, your responsibilities include:


  • Assisting the lead teacher
  • Upkeep/Cleaning of the classroom areas and supplies
  • Interacting with children while encouraging independence
  • Supervising lunch/snack and playground times
  • Keeping children safe and engaged
  • Support children's independence and exploration in a respectful way

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 and possess a strong work ethic and a desire to work with children.
  • High School diploma
  • Experience working with young children (through camps, babysitting, classroom, etc.)
  • Ability to pass required state background checks
  • Complete 15 hours of online training within 30 days of hire
  • CPR/First Aid certification and completion of annual training will be required (support provided)

Nice to Have

  • 6 months experience in a licensed childcare facility
  • Enrolled in or recently graduated from a degree program in Early Childhood Education or a related field
  • Familiarity or interest in Montessori education principles
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Positive attitude, flexibility, and a strong work ethic
  • Enthusiasm for nature-based learning and outdoor play
