About This Role
As our Assistant Director, you are the operational heartbeat of our academy. This isn't just administration; it's where regulatory excellence meets inspired leadership. You will ensure a safe, supportive, and enriching environment for students and staff, acting as a senior administrator on duty to maintain the highest standards of care. Because our center operates more than 12 hours a day, your presence is vital to our mission of bridging the gap between classroom excellence and home management.
What You'll Do
- Empowering the Team: Supervise and coach teachers and support personnel, fostering a collaborative classroom "home" where every educator can thrive.
- Regulatory Guardianship: Oversee daily operations to ensure 100% compliance with SC DSS Child Care Licensing Regulations (114-503), including safety inspections and staff-child ratios.
- Foundation Building: Ensure academic programs and extracurricular activities align with SC-ELS standards, fostering a high-energy environment for student growth.
- Collaborative Spirit: Partner with the Executive Director and leadership team to contribute to strategic planning and resolve emergencies effectively.
- Family Partnership: Serve as a trusted point of contact for parents, clearly communicating academy policies and sharing "lightbulb moments" in student development.
- Operational Excellence: Manage facility security, technology troubleshooting, and accurate record-keeping for incidents and attendance.
Requirements
- Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Education or Educational Administration (Master’s preferred).
- Experience: Over 10 years of experience in an educational setting, with a proven track record in a leadership or supervisory role. Foundational knowledge of Montessori or STEAM educational frameworks, with a proven ability to adapt and excel in specialized learning environments is strongly preferred.
- Professional Competencies: Proactive self-starter who demonstrates a continuous growth mindset and a commitment to process improvement.
- Skill Set: Deep knowledge of child development principles, SC DSS regulations, and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Heart & Soul: Exceptional interpersonal skills and a genuine passion for creating interactive, hands-on learning environments.
- Essentials: Ability to pass all required background checks and clearances.
