Assistant Preschool Teacher
About This Role
Our Saviour Lutheran School is looking for a caring, dependable, and enthusiastic Assistant Preschool Teacher to join our Bumblebee Classroom, serving children ages 3 and 4.
This position is a great fit for someone who loves working with young children, enjoys being part of a collaborative classroom team, and is excited to help create a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment where children can learn and grow through play.
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM–3:00 PM
Responsibilities
The Assistant Teacher will work closely with the Classroom Teacher and Program Director to support the daily needs of the classroom.

What You'll Do
- Provide attentive supervision and help ensure the safety and well-being of all children at all times.
- Assist with daily classroom activities, routines, and curriculum.
- Engage with children through play, conversation, small-group activities, and teacher-directed experiences.
- Prepare and organize classroom materials and learning activities.
- Support positive classroom management and age-appropriate guidance.
- Assist children with bathroom routines and potty training, including helping with clothing, wiping, accidents, handwashing, and other toileting needs while encouraging age-appropriate independence.
- Assist with meals, classroom transitions, outdoor play, and other daily care routines.
- Help maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming classroom, including regular cleaning and sanitizing of classroom materials, bathrooms, and shared spaces.
- Participate in classroom planning and required staff meetings.
- Work collaboratively with the Classroom Teacher and other staff members to support the needs of the children and classroom.
- Follow all South Carolina DSS regulations and OSLS policies and procedures.
- Complete required annual professional development and training.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Classroom Teacher or Program Director to support the needs of the program.
Qualifications
Requirements
- Must meet all South Carolina DSS requirements for the position.
- Must hold a High School Diploma or GED, if required by DSS.
- Must be physically able to lift and carry up to 40 pounds and actively participate in the physical demands of a preschool classroom.
- Must be dependable, patient, flexible, and comfortable working as part of a team.
- Previous experience working with preschool-aged children is preferred.
- Must be willing to complete all required annual training and professional development.
