Child Care Teacher Assistant
About This Role
Almond Tree is a small, vibrant early childhood program in Brooklyn, NY. We provide a joyful, nurturing space where children ages 2 to 5 are encouraged to grow through play, exploration, and meaningful learning experiences.
As part of our Team, you will help create a safe, warm learning environment that supports our children's holistic development. You will support daily classroom operations, assist with engaging age-appropriate activities, and foster positive relationships with families to ensure every child thrives.
Schedule will be:
Monday to Friday, 10am to 3pm.
Hourly rate:
$18 hr to $21 hr based on education and experieince.
What You'll Do
You will work collaboratively with our Team to:
- Actively supervise and engage children throughout the day with warmth, attentiveness, and care
- Build nurturing, responsive relationships with children to support their social and emotional growth.
- Support children’s daily routines including arrival, meals/snacks,circle time, large/small groups,transitions, outdoors, rest, diapering/toileting, handwashing, and departures
- Prepare materials and maintain an organized, inviting classroom environment
- Ensure a safe and clean classroom by following essential procedures and guidelines
- Plan and assist with hands-on activities to meet the needs and interests of the children
- Foster positive partnerships with families through regular communication and family engagement
- Clean and sanitize classroom spaces, toys and surfaces regularly
- Complete recordkeeping activities ie attendance, incident reports, observations
- Perform other duties as needed.
Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years old
- Minimum of 2 years experience taking care of children 0 - 6 years old
- Successfully complete a background check with the NYC Department of Health
- Complete 15 hours of Health and Safety Training on the ECETP website before the 1st day of work
- Provide three references- 2 professional (from a child-related role) and 1 personal
- Physically able to lift up to 30 lbs, bend, crouch, kneel, balance, sit on floor, stand and walk for extended periods, and engage in active play indoors and outdoors
- Possess a positive attitude, good written and verbal communication, punctual, reliable, work well with others.

- Worked with 3-K students
- College credits in Early Childhood Education or a Child Development Associate Credential (CDA)
- CPR/First Aid Certification
