Male Assistant Teacher

What You'll Do

• Work alongside the Lead Teacher to provide quality care and education.
• Actively engage children in age-appropriate learning activities, games, books, music, art, and hands-on experiences.
• Serve as a positive male role model by demonstrating patience, kindness, respect, responsibility, and good communication.
• Encourage children to explore, ask questions, solve problems, and develop confidence.
• Assist with classroom routines, meals, diapering/toileting, nap time, and transitions.
• Help maintain a clean, organized, and safe classroom.
• Support children's social, emotional, physical, and educational development.
• Help prepare classroom materials and activities.
• Build positive relationships with children, families, and coworkers.
• Follow all childcare policies, procedures, and safety requirements.
• Be dependable, professional, and willing to learn and grow as an educator.

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Previous childcare or experience working with children is preferred, but not required.
• Must pass all required background checks and childcare screenings.
• Must meet all applicable South Carolina childcare licensing requirements.
• Must be dependable, punctual, responsible, and professional.
• Must have a genuine interest in working with young children.
• Must be patient, kind, respectful, and able to communicate effectively with children and adults.
• Must be comfortable actively participating in classroom activities, including play, learning activities, outdoor activities, and hands-on experiences.
• Must be able to follow directions and work cooperatively with the Lead Teacher and other staff.
• Must be willing to assist with daily childcare responsibilities, including meals, nap time, cleaning, and classroom transitions as appropriate.
• Must be able to maintain a safe, clean, and positive classroom environment.
• Must be willing to learn and follow the daycare's policies, procedures, curriculum, and safety practices.
• Must demonstrate good judgment and the ability to remain calm and professional in challenging situations.
• Must be able to meet the physical demands of the position, including standing, walking, bending, lifting, and interacting with children at their level.

Nice to Have

• Previous experience working with children in a SC Licensed Childcare Facility.
• Experience working with infants, toddlers, preschoolers, or school-age children.
• CPR and First Aid certification.
• Early Childhood Education coursework or training.
• A natural ability to connect with children and earn their trust.
• Energetic and enjoys playing, moving, and participating in activities with children.
• Creative and able to come up with fun, age-appropriate activities.
• Comfortable reading books, singing songs, leading games, and participating in classroom activities.
• Enjoys outdoor play and physical activities.
• Patient and able to handle challenging behaviors calmly and positively.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Comfortable taking direction while also showing initiative.
• Reliable and willing to help wherever needed.
