About This Role
We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Lead Teacher to oversee our After School and Summer Camp programs in Woodstock, VA. In this role, you will create a safe, engaging, and enriching environment where school-age children can learn, play, and grow. You will design daily activities, supervise support staff, and maintain open communication with families to ensure a high-quality program experience year-round.
What You'll Do
- Plan and implement a diverse curriculum of recreational, educational, and team-building activities.
- Provide direct supervision and ensure the safety and well-being of all children enrolled in the program.
- Lead and mentor assistant teachers, camp counselors, and volunteers.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming classroom and recreational environment.
- Establish and maintain positive relationships with parents through regular updates and professional communication.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent qualification.
- Minimum of 1–2 years of experience working with school-age children in a licensed childcare, camp, or school setting.
- Ability to pass all background checks and fingerprinting required by Virginia licensing standards.
- Current CPR and First Aid certifications, or willingness to obtain them before starting.
- Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
Nice to Have
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, or a related field.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record to assist with student transportation.
- Previous experience planning summer camp itineraries or large-group events.
- Knowledge of Virginia Department of Social Services (VDSS) licensing regulations.
