LEAD TEACHER
About This Role
A Child's World Learning Academy in Chesapeake, VA is seeking a qualified LEAD TEACHER to work with Preschool (3–5), School Age (5–12), Mixed / All Ages in a early head start environment. This position requires an active Child Development Associate (CDA) credential.
A daycare lead teacher manages the daily operations of a classroom, designs and implements age-appropriate educational curricula, and supervises assistant staff. They are responsible for fostering children's cognitive and social-emotional growth while strictly maintaining state licensing, health, and safety standards.

What You'll Do
- Curriculum & Instruction: Develop and execute daily lesson plans encompassing cognitive, motor, and emotional development.
- Classroom Management: Lead circle time, free play, and structured activities while maintaining a safe, clean, and engaging physical environment.
- Parent Communication: Conduct routine meetings, provide daily progress reports, and collaborate with families to support individual child development.
- Staff Supervision: Direct, mentor, and delegate tasks to assistant teachers and aides.
- Health & Safety: Administer first aid/CPR when necessary, execute incident reports, and ensure all state licensing codes are continuously met
Requirements
- Education: High school diploma or GED required. Many facilities in the Virginia Beach area prefer or require an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education (ECE) or a CDA (Child Development Associate) credential.
- Experience: Typically 1 to 3 years of prior teaching or licensed childcare experience.
- Certifications: Valid CPR and First Aid certifications are universally required. Background checks and state-specific clearances are mandatory.
- Physical Demands: Must have the ability to frequently stand, stoop, bend, and lift up to 40 lbs.
