What You'll Do
The Role
ABC Academy is seeking a caring, dependable, and enthusiastic Assistant Toddler Educator to support our Lead Toddler Educator in creating a warm, safe, and engaging classroom for children ages 18–36 months. In this role, you will help foster an environment where toddlers can explore, play, build relationships, and develop confidence through nurturing interactions and developmentally appropriate experiences.
Working alongside the Lead Toddler Educator, you will help ensure each child feels safe, loved, and encouraged as they reach important developmental milestones.
What You Will Do
Support Meaningful Learning
- Assist in implementing engaging, play-based learning experiences planned by the Lead Toddler Educator.
- Encourage children’s curiosity through play, music, movement, books, sensory activities, art, and hands-on exploration.
- Participate in daily activities that promote language, social-emotional, cognitive, and physical development.
- Help prepare classroom materials and learning environments.
Build Strong Relationships
- Develop warm, responsive relationships with each child through consistent, caring interactions.
- Comfort, encourage, and support toddlers as they navigate big emotions, new experiences, and growing independence.
- Use positive guidance strategies to promote cooperation, communication, and emotional regulation.
- Help create an inclusive classroom where every child feels welcomed, respected, and valued.
Embrace Outdoor Exploration
- Support daily outdoor play and nature-based learning in all Vermont seasons.
- Encourage children to explore through gardening, nature walks, loose parts play, water play, sensory experiences, and active movement.
- Maintain active supervision while helping children safely explore and take appropriate developmental risks.
Support Daily Care Routines
- Assist with diapering, toileting, handwashing, meals, snacks, naps, and transitions while promoting children’s independence and dignity.
- Help maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming classroom environment.
- Ensure children’s health, safety, and well-being throughout the day.
Collaborate with Your Team
- Work closely with the Lead Toddler Educator and fellow staff members to provide consistent, high-quality care.
- Assist with classroom setup, organization, cleaning, and daily routines.
- Participate in team meetings, professional development, and ongoing training.
- Communicate professionally and respectfully with coworkers and families.
Requirements
- CDA or Associates Degree Preferred
- 1 Year of experience minimum
- must be able to pass a background check
