Teacher in Early Childhood

What You'll Do

• Provide a safe, nurturing, and positive learning environment.
• Supervise children at all times to ensure their safety and well-being.
• Plan and implement age-appropriate activities and curriculum.
• Support children’s social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and engaging classroom.
• Communicate effectively with families regarding children’s progress and daily activities.
• Assist children with daily routines, including meals, toileting, and rest periods.
• Observe and document children’s development and learning.
• Follow all state licensing regulations and center policies.
• Collaborate with coworkers to support classroom operations and program goals.
• Attend staff meetings and required professional development trainings.
• Promote positive behavior and guide children using developmentally appropriate practices.

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years old
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Must successfully pass required FBI background checks and drug screening.
• Pediatric CPR/First Aid certification required (or obtained upon hire).
• Ability to meet all Indiana state licensing, Paths to Quality, and NAEYC standards.
• Must participate in required orientation and annual professional development training.
• Lead Teacher candidates should possess or be working toward a CDA, Associate’s Degree, Bachelor’s Degree, or equivalent coursework in Early Childhood Education or a related field.
• Previous experience working with young children in a classroom setting is preferred.
• Strong classroom management, communication, and curriculum planning skills are highly valued.

Nice to Have

• Previous experience working in a childcare center, preschool, or early childhood setting.
• CDA, Associate’s Degree, or Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field.
• Knowledge of Indiana Early Learning Standards.
• Familiarity with Paths to Quality and NAEYC accreditation standards.
• Experience working with children with diverse learning needs, IEPs, or developmental delays.
• Bilingual skills
• Strong classroom management and positive behavior guidance skills.
• Experience communicating with families through apps
