Early Childhood Teacher Assistant
About This Role
Calvary Chapel Christian Academy is seeking caring and dependable Teacher Assistants to support our infant, toddler, and preschool classrooms. We are looking for individuals who love children, value Christian education, and desire to serve students and families in a Christ-centered environment.
This role is a good fit for someone who is patient, reliable, teachable, and willing to work alongside others with humility and care. Classroom placement may include infant, toddler, two-year-old, three-year-old, or preschool support based on experience, staffing needs, and the best fit for the academy.

What You'll Do
- Assist the lead teacher with daily classroom routines and activities
- Help supervise children with care, attentiveness, and consistency
- Support diapering, toileting, handwashing, meals, rest time, transitions, and play
- Maintain staff-to-child ratio and follow all supervision requirements
- Help create a warm, structured, Christ-centered classroom environment
- Communicate kindly and respectfully with children, families, and coworkers
- Assist with classroom cleanliness, organization, and preparation
- Follow academy policies, safety procedures, and administrative direction
- Support children socially, emotionally, physically, and developmentally
- Serve where needed as part of the academy team
Requirements
- A genuine love for children and a desire to serve families well
- Support for the Christian mission and values of Calvary Chapel Christian Academy
- A personal relationship with Jesus Christ or a sincere desire to walk with Christ
- Patience, humility, integrity, and professionalism
- Dependability, punctuality, and a willingness to work as part of a team
- Ability to follow classroom procedures, safety expectations, and ratio requirements
- Willingness to assist with infants, toddlers, and preschool-age children as needed
- Clear, kind, and respectful communication
- Ability to complete required background checks, paperwork, and training
- Prior child care experience is helpful, but not required for the right candidate
Nice to Have
- Experience working with infants, toddlers, or preschool-age children
- Experience in a child care center, preschool, church nursery, children’s ministry, or school setting
- CPR/First Aid certification
- Virginia child care training or willingness to complete training
- Strong attendance and reliability
- A teachable spirit and willingness to grow
- Ability to remain calm, patient, and flexible in a busy classroom environment
