The Floater & Operations Support Specialist plays a vital role in supporting the daily operations of C.A.R.E. Academy. This position provides classroom coverage throughout the center to maintain ratios, support teacher breaks, assist with transitions, and ensure a safe, nurturing environment for children. In addition to classroom responsibilities, the Floater & Operations Support Specialist serves as a trained backup for essential operational functions, including food service, meal distribution, inventory assistance, and Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) compliance support.


The ideal candidate is dependable, flexible, organized, and willing to work with children of all ages while assisting in multiple areas of the center as needed. This individual must be able to adapt to changing priorities, work independently, and contribute to the overall success of both classroom and operational functions. The Floater & Operations Support Specialist is a key member of the team who helps ensure continuity of care and uninterrupted operations throughout the center.

What You'll Do

Primary Responsibilities (80%)

  • Maintain ratios in classrooms
  • Cover teacher breaks and lunches
  • Assist with opening and closing classrooms
  • Support nap time and playground supervision
  • Assist with transitions and classroom organization
  • Serve all age groups as assigned

Secondary Responsibilities (20%)

  • Serve as backup to Culinary Technician
  • Assist with meal delivery between buildings
  • Assist with inventory counts
  • Assist with food order put-away
  • Complete meal counts when assigned
  • Prepare and serve meals in the absence of the Culinary Technician
  • Maintain CACFP compliance procedures after training

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must be able to pass all DSS, State, and Federal background checks required for employment in a childcare facility.
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States.
  • Must possess reliable transportation and demonstrate consistent attendance.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in a childcare, school, food service, healthcare, hospitality, or customer service setting.
  • Experience with food preparation, kitchen operations, inventory management, or meal service.
  • Knowledge of Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) guidelines preferred but not required. Training will be provided.
  • CPR and First Aid Certification preferred or willingness to obtain upon hire.

  • Ability to work with children of various ages in a positive and professional manner.
  • Ability to adapt quickly and work in different classrooms and environments throughout the day.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to count, record, and maintain accurate documentation.
  • Willingness to learn classroom procedures, food service operations, and CACFP requirements.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, and lift throughout the workday.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to move between multiple buildings and work indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Ability to safely assist with classroom activities, playground supervision, meal service, and operational tasks.
  • Ability to remain active and engaged for the duration of the workday.

  • Be willing to assist wherever needed to support children, staff, and center operations.
  • Successfully complete all required training assigned by C.A.R.E. Academy, DSS, ABC Quality, CACFP, and other regulatory agencies.
