CSUMC Weekday School- Cave Spring United Methodist Church is hiring for a support staff member role in Roanoke. Compensation is $16/Hr. Candidates need no formal early childhood credentials to start.

CAVE SPRING UNITED METHODIST CHURCH Weekday Preschool is seeking a joyful, energetic music teacher to inspire children ages 2-5 through singing, movement, rhythm activities, instruments, and interactive experiences. This part-time position runs from 9 AM to 12 PM, two days per week, totaling 6 hours per week, from August 6, 2026, to May 27, 2027. Days are to be determined. The music teacher helps children develop a love for music while reinforcing their social, emotional, cognitive, and spiritual growth.
Our preschool follows the Roanoke County Public Schools calendar for start and end dates, teacher workdays, holidays, and inclement weather closings and delays.

What You'll Do
- Plan and lead music classes for small groups of children ages 2-5
- Prepare age-appropriate lesson plans and materials
- Teach basic musical concepts through singing, rhythm, movement, and creative play.
- Incorporate faith-based themes.
- Coordinate music and performances for preschool programs, holiday celebrations, and special events as needed.
- Collaborate with preschool staff.
- Ensure a safe and orderly learning environment.
- Maintain classroom equipment, instruments, and supplies.
- Model Christian character.
Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Have at least 1 year of experience working with young children.
- Ability to sing confidently and lead music activities.
- Piano proficiency required, and basic proficiency with other musical instruments.
- Ability to engage children through movement, songs, and interactive learning.
- Must pass FBI fingerprint, CPS background checks, and have a physician-signed health form on file
- Ability to bend, sit on the floor, dance, move actively, and lift young children.
- Ability to lift and carry classroom materials and instruments as needed.
- Strong communication skills
Nice to Have
- Degree or coursework in Music Education, Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or related field.
- Experience teaching music in a preschool setting, daycare, church, elementary school, or specialized music enrichment setting.
- CPR certification
