What You'll Do
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for setting teaching environments, upkeep of equipment, maintain classroom supply and mentor/train Assistant teachers
- Maintaining child portfolios, conferences, assessments, and written daily communications with families
- Attend training seminars and conferences to maintain their knowledge of child care advances and acquiring a minimum of 30 training hours per year and continued CDA certifications -ECU's
- Effectively communicate with families and staff both oral and written communications.
- Monthly lesson planning using Learning Through Play Curriculum, Individualized planning and Enrichments
- Documentation of all accident and incidents, Daily Health, Behavior Logs
- Twice yearly parent teacher conferences, attend monthly staff meetings
- Maintaining all licensing requirements within the classroom, on the playground and on field trips.
- Maintain/Mentor- Positive Discipline Policy, Emotional Intelligence, Bilingual Spanish/English Language Arts and the Arts (Music/Dramatic Play and Creative Arts).
- Teaching children in a manner consistent with the philosophy and goals of Early Steps Bilingual Preschool
- Perform all tasks assigned by the Director or Assistant Director/Coordinator
- Treating all children, families, staff, volunteers and visitors with dignity and respect
- Planning activities, which encourage each child's growth emotionally, socially and physically
- Relating to the needs of each child from a cultural perspective and work with the other children to appreciate their diversity and languages
- Help children learn resiliency and explore their creativity
Requirements
- The ability to pass State of Virginia background checks
- FBI - finger printing and background investigation
- Pass a drug screening
- Ability to lift up to 50lbs, bend and stack school supplies as needed
- Ability to supervise children, help lead activities or projects and work in a group
- Flexibility in working with Teachers in all age groups as needed
- Flexibility in working with Administrators in various school projects and events

Daily Health Observation Certificate
CPR/First Aid Certificate
Medication Administration Training (MAT) Certificate
Prepared to submit a physical, TB test screening and drug screening as required
