About This Role
Toddler Teacher Assistant
We are seeking a warm, patient, and energetic Toddler Teacher Assistant to join our early childhood education team in Madison, TN. In this role, you will work alongside a Lead Teacher to create a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment where toddlers aged 1 to 3 can explore, learn, and grow. You will play a vital role in supporting early developmental milestones, managing daily classroom routines, and building positive relationships with families.
What You'll Do
- Assist the Lead Teacher in implementing age-appropriate lesson plans, sensory activities, and play-based learning experiences.
- Provide attentive care to toddlers, including assisting with diapering, toileting, handwashing, and meal/snack times.
- Maintain a clean, safe, organized, and hygienic classroom environment in compliance with state licensing standards.
- Supervise children closely during indoor and outdoor activities to ensure their safety and well-being at all times.
- Observe and document children's daily progress, behavior, and developmental milestones, sharing updates with parents and team members.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience working with infants or toddlers in a licensed childcare facility or school setting.
- Ability to meet Tennessee Department of Human Services (DHS) background check and fingerprinting requirements.
- Current CPR and First Aid certification, or willingness to obtain it within the first 30 days of employment.
- Physical stamina to lift up to 40 pounds, stand, bend, and sit on the floor for extended periods.
Nice to Have
- Child Development Associate (CDA) credential or coursework in Early Childhood Education.
- Previous experience working with childcare management software or parent communication apps (e.g., Brightwheel, Tadpoles).
- Familiarity with Tennessee child care licensing regulations.
