About This Role
The Housatonic Child Care Center's educational program is designed to help children develop socially, cognitively, physically, and emotionally in a nurturing and safe environment that offers children a flexible structure of indoor and outdoor play, individual and group activities, varied language activities, music, movement, arts and crafts, cooking, and field trips.
We strive to provide the highest quality of care for children between the ages of 12 weeks and 5 years, promote school readiness and socialization, support our staff in their development, and reflect well on the town of Salisbury.
We are looking for qualified and flexible teachers to join our team.

What You'll Do
Performance Requirements include, but are not limited to:
- Maintaining the goals and philosophies of the Center, NAEYC, OEC, and DPH at all times.
- Works with all teachers, volunteers, guests, and parents to provide quality care.
- Works alongside the Head Teacher creating weekly lesson plans and setting child-specific goals to implement the educational program, including activities such as art, language, literacy, music and movement, gross motor, fine motor, cooking, math, science, technology, and social studies.
- Maintain a program that is safe, clean, inviting, interesting, and stimulating.
- Be sensitive and responsive to parents and children and their needs.
- Attendance to monthly staff meetings.
- 20+ hours of professional development yearly.
- Learn and use the Guidance Approach when dealing with children exhibiting mistaken behavior.
- Function to help build a supportive team.
- Become CPR and First Aid certified, Medication and Epi pen trained.
- Participation in fundraising creation and events.
- Participation in public relations and marketing plans that are intended to enhance the Center’s public image and increase positive enrollment.
- Any other task as assigned by the Director or Head Teacher.
Requirements
Must have a cheerful, enthusiastic, patient, and creative attitude.
Must have a sincere desire to work with children and in the field of Early Childhood.
Must be able to work well with others and in a team
Must be able to pass a CT background check.
A high school diploma or GED is required.
1+ years of related experience preferred, but not necessary
Nice to Have
Coursework or degree in Early Childhood Education or related preferred, but not necessary
