Afterschool Educator
About This Role
Do you love working with children, exploring the outdoors, and creating hands-on learning experiences? Kid Logic Learning is looking for enthusiastic, creative, and dependable Afterschool Educators to join our Nature-Based STEAM Afterschool Program. Our program serves children ages 5-8 from South Burlington schools, including Orchard Elementary, Chamberlain School, and Rick Marcotte Central School. Educators support children through hands-on STEAM experiences, outdoor exploration, creative projects, and play-based learning.
What You'll Do
- Create a nurturing, supportive environment that values each child’s individual needs and interests.
- Build strong, positive relationships with children, families, and colleagues.
- Collaborate with educators to design engaging, play-based and hands-on learning experiences.
- Use observation and documentation to understand children’s interests and help guide curriculum planning.
- Support children’s physical, cognitive, social-emotional, and creative development.
- Facilitate outdoor exploration and nature-based STEAM experiences.
- Encourage curiosity, problem-solving, creativity, collaboration, and independence.
- Help create a classroom community where children feel safe, valued, and excited to learn.
Requirements
- College students studying education, child development, environmental science, recreation, or a related field.
- Educators with experience working with school-age children.
- Individuals who are energetic, creative, dependable, and enjoy spending time outdoors.
- Applicants who are passionate about play-based, child-centered learning.
Schedule: Afterschool hours are approximately 2:30-5:30 PM. Full-day coverage opportunities may also be available for educators looking for additional hours or a full-time schedule.
Qualifications:
- Preferred: Bachelor’s degree with a professional license in Early Childhood Education or Special Education.
- Minimum: Associate’s degree, Vermont Apprenticeship, or 21 related college credits.
