Kids Academy of Learning & Excellence powered by CORE (KALE) in North Chesterfield, VA is seeking a qualified Early Childhood Education Teacher to work with Mixed / All Ages in a center-based environment. This position requires an active Child Development Associate (CDA) credential.


Kids Academy of Learning & Excellence, also known as KALE, is a growing early childhood education center serving children from infancy through school age. Our program focuses on whole-child development, school readiness, safety, family communication, and hands-on learning experiences that help children grow academically, socially, emotionally, and creatively. We are looking for an Early Childhood Education Teacher who is dependable, nurturing, professional, and ready to support a high-quality classroom environment.

What You'll Do

The Early Childhood Education Teacher is responsible for supporting daily classroom operations, maintaining active supervision, assisting with learning activities, helping with child care routines, and supporting a safe, clean, and engaging classroom environment. This position requires someone who can work well with children, families, and team members while following KALE policies and Virginia child care licensing standards. The ideal candidate is reliable, calm under pressure, organized, and able to help lead children through daily routines with structure, patience, and care.

Requirements

The Early Childhood Education Teacher will assist with daily classroom routines, including arrival, meals, rest time, toileting or diapering, transitions, outdoor play, group activities, and dismissal.

Responsibilities include supporting lesson activities, engaging children in developmentally appropriate learning, maintaining classroom organization, helping with Brightwheel updates, documenting attendance, supporting positive behavior guidance, and communicating professionally with families and staff. The teacher must maintain active supervision of children at all times and follow all health, safety, sanitation, emergency, and child supervision procedures.


Candidates must be professional, dependable, and able to work directly with children in a licensed child care setting.Preferred candidates will be at least 18 years old, have a high school diploma or equivalent, and have experience working with children in a child care center, preschool, early learning program, school-age program, or similar group care environment.Strong candidates may have one or more of the following: A CDA credential. An associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Elementary Education, or a related field.A Virginia-recognized child development credential. Early childhood education coursework or training.Prior experience as an early childhood teacher, preschool teacher, toddler teacher, infant teacher, assistant teacher, lead teacher, floater, or school-age teacher. CPR/First Aid, MAT, Daily Health Observation, or other child care training.


Required Skills

The Early Childhood Education Teacher must be able to follow direction, maintain classroom structure, actively supervise children, communicate professionally, and support a positive classroom culture.This role requires patience, flexibility, strong attendance, teamwork, and the ability to work calmly in a busy child care environment.Candidates must be comfortable assisting with toileting, diapering, cleaning, meals, playground supervision, classroom activities, and daily family communication.


Background Checks and Training

Employment is contingent upon successful completion of all required Virginia child care background checks, reference checks, onboarding documents, and required training.

The selected candidate must complete all required orientation, health and safety training, and ongoing professional development required for work in a Virginia licensed child day center.

Physical Requirements

Must be able to sit on the floor, bend, stand, walk, lift children when needed, supervise playground activity, assist with classroom cleaning, and respond quickly to children’s needs.
