About This Role
A Kindergarten Teacher creates a safe, nurturing, and engaging learning environment for young children, typically ages 4–6. Responsibilities include classroom management, preparing learning materials, lessons and activities, supervising students during play and meal times, and promoting positive behavior and social development. The teacher will ensure each child's educational and emotional needs are met, contributing to a well-organized and inclusive classroom. Strong communication, patience, and a passion for early childhood education are essential.
What You'll Do
Kindergarten Teacher – Duties and Responsibilities
Instructional Activities
- Deliver lessons and educational activities.
- Implement daily lesson plans and classroom routines.
Classroom Management
- Supervise students to ensure a safe and positive environment.
- Reinforce classroom rules and positive behavior practices.
Individual and Group Support
- Provide one-on-one or small group support to students who need extra help.
- Assist children with learning basic skills such as counting, writing, and recognizing letters/shapes.
Monitor Student Behavior and Progress
- Observe and report student behavior, academic progress, or concerns to admin.
- Help assess students' developmental and educational needs.
Prepare Materials and Resources
- Set up learning stations, materials, and supplies for activities.
- Help create visual aids, crafts, and bulletin boards.
Classroom Cleanliness and Organization
- Maintain a clean, organized, and child-friendly classroom environment.
- Cleaning up after activities, meals, and snacks.
Supervise Non-Instructional Activities
- Monitor children during playtime, rest periods, and outdoor activities.
- Restroom breaks, dressing, and other basic care needs.
Encourage Social and Emotional Development
- Foster a supportive atmosphere that promotes cooperation, kindness, and self-confidence.
- Help students develop social skills through group activities and play.
Communicate with Staff and Parents
- Collaborate with the Admin and other school staff.
- Communicate with parents about classroom activities or student behavior under Admin guidance.
Follow School Policies and Safety Protocols
- Adhere to school guidelines, health and safety regulations, and emergency procedures.
- Attend staff meetings and professional development as required.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or higher education
- Experience of 1 year in a kindergarten or prek4 classroom
- CPR/First Aid in Pediatrics
