About This Role
Ladder of Learning is seeking a dedicated and nurturing Lead Teacher to create a warm, structured, and engaging classroom environment for young learners. The Lead Teacher is responsible for planning and implementing developmentally appropriate lessons, ensuring daily safety and supervision, and maintaining compliance with all DECAL and CACFP guidelines. This role includes guiding assistant teachers, communicating positively with families through Brightwheel, and keeping the classroom clean, organized, and aligned with our center’s high standards. We are looking for a leader who brings professionalism, creativity, and a genuine love for children to our team.

What You'll Do
Create and maintain a warm, safe, and structured classroom environment.
Plan and implement developmentally appropriate lessons and activities.
Supervise children at all times and ensure compliance with DECAL and CACFP guidelines.
Complete accurate daily documentation, attendance, and meal counts.
Communicate professionally with families through Brightwheel.
Model leadership, professionalism, and positive communication for assistant teachers.
Maintain a clean, organized, and compliant classroom using daily checklists.
Support children’s social, emotional, and academic development through intentional interactions.
Collaborate with administration and participate in required trainings and staff meetings.
Follow all center policies, safety procedures, and licensing regulations.
Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years old with a high school diploma or GED
- Strong understanding of child development and developmentally appropriate practices
- Ability to maintain a safe, structured, and nurturing classroom environment
- Excellent communication skills and a positive, professional attitude
- Ability to complete daily documentation, attendance, and Brightwheel communication
- Must pass a comprehensive background check and meet all DECAL requirements
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work scheduled hours consistently
- Ability to lift up to 30 lbs and actively engage with children throughout the day
Nice to Have
- CDA, TCC, or higher early childhood credential preferred
- Minimum 1 year of experience working in a licensed childcare center
