Early Childhood - Assistant Teacher (Spanish Immersion School)
About This Role
Assists in planning and implementing child-centered activities that promote social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development, while supporting the Lead Teacher in creating a nurturing and safe environment for young children. Collaborates with a highly skilled team to deliver high-quality early childhood education, observe and document children's progress, and maintain open communication with parents through regular updates. Delegates tasks and duties to support the Director's vision, and is responsible for daily responsibilities under the supervision of the Lead Teacher and the Director.
What You'll Do
Our Assistant Teachers work together with lead teachers to:
- Interact with the children to support learning, development, and exploration
- Present expectations that are appropriate to the child’s age and developmental level
- Implement activities that develop social-emotional and self-reliance skills
- Assist in the implementation of curricula activities and encourage participation by children
- Actively engage in activities; manage cleanliness, maintenance, and availability of classroom materials
- Communicate appropriately and professionally with fellow staff and families
- Show a commitment to continuing education and quality improvement
- Follow all center policies and state regulations
Requirements
- Minimum of 1-2 years of professional child care experience
- High energy
- Ability to work well with others
- Strong oral and written communication skills (Spanish) and basic computer skills
- An understanding of child development
- Excellent leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills
- Must clear full background check
- Spanish speaking (Native or heritage speaker ability)
Nice to Have
- Holds a CDA or is working towards obtaining an ECE degree
- Infant/child CPR and First Aid certification
