Infant/Toddler Teacher

What You'll Do

• Create a warm, safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate classroom environment.
• Plan and implement age-appropriate sensory, early literacy, music, movement, and exploratory activities.
• Support early communication, language acquisition, social-emotional development, and emerging independence.
• Provide attentive care during feeding, diapering, toileting, and rest routines.
• Maintain consistent daily routines that meet children's individual developmental needs.
• Observe and document developmental milestones and individual progress.
• Maintain an organized, clean, and engaging learning environment.
• Communicate regularly and professionally with families using the Playground communication app.
• Follow all applicable Connecticut Office of Early Childhood licensing requirements, including supervision, hygiene, and safe sleep practices.
• Collaborate with classroom assistants, colleagues, and the director.
• Participate in professional development and required trainings.

Requirements

• Previous experience caring for infants and toddlers in a licensed childcare program preferred.
• Understanding of infant and toddler developmental milestones.
• Knowledge of developmentally appropriate practices and responsive caregiving.
• Strong organizational, communication, and classroom management skills.
• Pediatric CPR/First Aid certification preferred or willingness to obtain.
• Ability to meet Connecticut OEC background check and applicable training requirements.
• Dependability, punctuality, flexibility, and professionalism.
• Genuine passion for early childhood education and nurturing young learners.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift and carry young children and classroom materials, with appropriate accommodations.
• Ability to sit, stand, bend, kneel, and work at children's floor level throughout the day.
• Ability to actively supervise children indoors and outdoors.
• Ability to respond promptly to children's safety, care, and developmental needs.
