About This Role
Plans and prepares balanced, nutritious meals in accordance with Head Start Performance Standards, USDA guidelines, and applicable ODJFS regulations. Assists with the planning and implementation of nutrition education and training programs, and ensures full compliance with all local, state, and federal food, sanitation, and safety standards.

What You'll Do
- Carry forward the mission of MVCDC, support quality management principles, and work toward agency and program goals.
- Represent MVCDC professionally in manner and dress to staff, parents, Board of Trustees, volunteers, and the community.
- Adhere to agency confidentiality policies.
- Prepare and serve nutritious meals and snacks.
- Make recommendations for food and menu adjustments as appropriate.
- Ensure the safety and active supervision of children during all parts of the daily routine to prevent children from being left alone or unsupervised.
- Maintain established standards of sanitation, safety, and food preparation.
- Ensure cleanliness, security, and appropriate use of property, equipment, materials, and documentation.
- Maintain accurate food service records and submit documentation to supervisors in a timely manner.
- Supervise, train, and evaluate assigned staff in nutrition-related duties.
- Conduct performance reviews, professional development training plans, and annual evaluations.
- Participate in assigned meetings, college courses, and trainings, including obtaining and maintaining Level II Food Safety Certification.
- Implement new knowledge and training to improve job performance.
- Performs other duties as assigned
Requirements
- High school diploma/GED
- Six months of experience in quantity cooking
- Ability to reach overhead to remove food from cabinets and stock shelves
- Be able to stand 90% of the workday
- Valid Driver’s License and/or access to transportation to other centers as needed
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.)
- Ability to meet and maintain compliance with ODJFS, USDA, Health, and Sanitation regulations
