About This Role

Small Steps Granbury in Granbury, TX is seeking a qualified Pre-K Teacher (ages 3-4) to work with Preschool (3–5) in a center-based environment. This position requires a willingness to earn a Child Development Associate (CDA) credential, with employer support.


Join our dynamic team at Small Steps as a dedicated and nurturing Pre-K Teacher! Our ideal candidate is passionate about creating engaging learning experiences, building positive relationships with young children, and collaborating with families to support each child's growth and development.

This is a full-time position working four days a week, Monday to Thursday, from 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM with a one-hour lunch break. Enjoy a great work-life balance with weekends off and an extra weekday off each week!

What You'll Do

Classroom Management & Child Supervision

  • Establish a safe and engaging classroom environment that promotes children's social-emotional development.
  • Guide children's behavior using positive discipline and redirection techniques, while maintaining a positive relationship with each child.
  • Implement classroom routines and schedules consistently, ensuring a smooth and organized daily flow.
  • Provide active supervision to ensure the safety and well-being of all children at all times.
  • Build strong relationships with children, while maintaining clear classroom expectations and boundaries.

Curriculum & Learning

  • Develop and implement age-appropriate lesson plans that cater to the diverse needs of our students.
  • Support school readiness skills, including early literacy, language development, early math concepts, social-emotional learning, and fine and gross motor development.
  • Facilitate hands-on learning experiences and center activities that promote exploration and discovery.
  • Observe and document children's progress and developmental milestones, ensuring accurate and detailed records.
  • Collaborate with families to share children's accomplishments and address any concerns.

Family Communication

  • Build strong relationships with families, ensuring open and effective communication.
  • Communicate daily activities, accomplishments, and concerns with parents, providing regular updates.
  • Participate in parent conferences and family engagement activities, fostering a sense of community and support.

Health, Safety & Compliance

  • Maintain compliance with all licensing regulations and center policies, ensuring a safe and healthy environment.
  • Ensure the classroom is clean, organized, and well-maintained, meeting the highest standards of sanitation and cleanliness.
  • Complete required documentation and incident reports accurately and efficiently.
  • Participate in emergency drills and safety procedures, ensuring the well-being of all staff and children.

Team Collaboration

  • Work collaboratively with co-teachers, support staff, and leadership to achieve common goals and objectives.
  • Attend staff meetings and required trainings, staying up-to-date with best practices and industry developments.
  • Contribute to maintaining a positive and supportive workplace culture, promoting teamwork and camaraderie.

Requirements

Must meet Texas Child Care Regulation requirements.

Ability to pass background checks and required screenings.

High school diploma or GED required.

Previous experience working with children in a childcare, preschool, or educational setting.

Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and actively engage with children throughout the day.

Strong communication and classroom management skills.

Reliable attendance and punctuality.

Positive attitude and professional demeanor.

Ability to get up and down off the floor frequently as we often sit with children for circle time and activities

Nice to Have

CPR/First Aid certification.

Experience teaching children ages 3-4 years old.

Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.

Knowledge of Texas Rising Star standards.

Experience creating and implementing lesson plans.

CDA, Associate's Degree, or coursework in Early Childhood Education.

Experience with Conscious Discipline or other positive guidance approaches.
