Teacher Assistant
About This Role
The Teacher Assistant fulfills the mission of the Catholic school by assisting the classroom teacher in planning, guiding, and educating students in a loving, Christ-centered environment. The Teacher Assistant assists the classroom teacher in evaluating the learning process of the students in the Catholic school for whom the teacher is responsible within the framework of the school’s philosophy, organization, and curriculum. The Teacher Assistant helps the teacher prepare instructional materials, assists with students, and supports learning activities that have been defined by the teacher.
What You'll Do
Supports and upholds the philosophy of Catholic education and the mission of the school
Acts as a witness to Gospel values by modeling the teachings of the Catholic Church
Supports and adheres to the policies and procedures of the ECDC
Maintains confidentiality regarding school matters
Communicates effectively with students, parents, and other professionals
Demonstrates professionalism in conduct, demeanor, and work habits
Monitors and assists individual students in small instructional groups to support learning activities
Supervises students at lunch, recess, and in routine movement
Performs clerical tasks, prepares instructional materials and bulletin boards as indicated by the classroom teacher
Attends and participates in the scheduled number of in-service days
Demonstrates professionalism in conduct, demeanor, and work habits
Maintains a work schedule that maximizes availability to the school, students and staff
Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent
Experience supervising children preferred
Must pass all State and Archdiocesan background checks
Nice to Have
Knowledge of child development, learning and behavior
Able to communicate effectively in both written and verbal forms
Able to work well with others in a school community
Skill in handling multiple tasks simultaneously
Skill in job-appropriate technology
