This 20-25 hour/week, part-time position requires a dedicated educator to engage students in thoughtful exploration of history, government, and citizenship within a Christ-centered environment.
What You'll Do
- Inspire students to become informed and responsible citizens by delivering engaging, standards-aligned lessons in U.S. History, World Geography, and Civics/Economics.
- Encourage critical thinking and respectful dialogue through various instructional strategies and diverse learning experiences.
- Deepen understanding by integrating primary sources, current events, and discussion-based learning.
- Support students' development of critical thinking and writing skills through tailored assessments and formative evaluations.
- Uphold the school's mission and values while fostering a collaborative and faith-filled school community.
- Maintain accurate records of student performance and classroom activities.
- Collaborate with fellow middle school teachers on interdisciplinary projects and participate in school events and meetings.
- Model strong classroom management, organizational, and communication skills to ensure a productive learning environment.
- Adapt technology and digital resources to enhance instruction and stay up-to-date with educational trends.
Requirements
- Ability to collaborate effectively and contribute to a faith-filled school community.
- Passion for working with middle school students.
- Teaching experience preferred, especially at the middle school level.
- Strong classroom management, organizational, and communication skills.
- Valid Virginia teaching license with an endorsement in Middle School History/Civics Education (or in progress).
Nice to Have
- Proficiency with educational technology tools, such as Google Classroom.
