About This Role
Preschool Art Teacher – Half Day Program
St. Martin's PreSchool is seeking a nurturing, creative Art Teacher to join our half day, school year early childhood program serving children ages 3–5. St. Martin's PreSchool features a departmentalized format in which each Teacher has a home room class and also teaches her area of expertise to all the 3's and 4's. This position focuses on introducing preschoolers to art through developmentally appropriate, hands-on experiences that encourage creativity, exploration, and self-expression. Ideal candidates are team players who communicate effectively with parents, work collaboratively with colleagues, and create a warm, engaging learning environment that supports young children’s growth and development.
What You'll Do
- Teach age-appropriate art activities to children ages 3–5
- Plan and implement creative, hands-on lessons that encourage exploration and self-expression
- Foster a nurturing, developmentally appropriate classroom environment
- Introduce children to a variety of art materials, techniques, and sensory experiences
- Collaborate with teaching teams to integrate art into broader classroom themes and activities
- Communicate professionally with parents regarding student progress and classroom activities
- Prepare, organize, and maintain art materials, supplies, and classroom displays
- Maintain classroom organization, cleanliness, and safety
- Follow all state licensing guidelines and program policies
- Participate in team meetings, school events, and professional development opportunities
Requirements
- Degree in Early Childhood Education, Art Education, or related field preferred·
- Experience teaching art or working with preschool-aged children preferred
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
- Knowledge of early childhood development and developmentally appropriate practices
- Creativity and enthusiasm for introducing young children to the arts
- Ability to meet all state licensing requirements and background checks
