This Lead Teacher opportunity at St. Paul UMC Preschool serves Infant / Toddler (0–2), Preschool (3–5) and requires a willingness to earn a Child Development Associate (CDA) credential, with employer support. Based in Woodbridge, VA, candidates bring experience in early childhood education and development.
St. Paul UMC Preschool is seeking an enthusiastic, energetic, and caring Toddler Lead Teacher to join our preschool team. The ideal candidate is motivated, collaborative, creative, and passionate about helping young children learn and grow in a warm, nurturing, Christian environment. Our small classroom sizes allow teachers to build meaningful relationships withstudents and families while supporting each child's academic, social, emotional, physical, and spiritual development.

What You'll Do
- Create a warm, loving classroom environment and demonstrate Christian love to children, families,
and staff.
- Plan and implement interactive, hands-on lessons that support each child's learning style and
developmental needs.
- Support social-emotional learning and positive behavior management.
- Supervise students and follow health, safety, licensing, emergency, and child protection
procedures.
- Communicate with families through daily interactions, Brightwheel, and email.
- Complete student assessments, maintain student portfolios, and share lesson plans as requested.
- Work collaboratively with the assistant teacher, Director, Assistant Director, and preschool
staff.
- Attend staff meetings, trainings, and professional development opportunities.
- Participate in school-wide events, fundraisers, classroom set-up, and end-of-year clean-up.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, CDA certification, or Associate's degree in Early
Childhood Education or a related field.
- Minimum of 1 year of classroom experience or the equivalent.
- At least 18 years old.
- Ability to meet state requirements for background checks, health screening, CPR, and first aid
training.
- Friendly personality and a genuine love for young children.
- Physically and emotionally equipped to carry out classroom responsibilities.
- Willingness to work in a Christian environment and teach Christian values.
