About This Role
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Early Childhood Teacher to join our team in Petersburg, VA. In this role, you will create a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment where young children can grow emotionally, socially, and academically. You will design and implement age-appropriate curricula that foster curiosity and foundational skills, collaborating closely with families to support each child's unique development.
What You'll Do
- Supervise children at all times to ensure their safety and well-being.
- Plan and lead age-appropriate activities that support children’s learning and development.
- Follow daily classroom schedules, routines, and lesson plans.
- Assist children with meals, toileting, handwashing, and other daily needs as appropriate for their age.
- Use positive behavior guidance to encourage cooperation and appropriate interactions.
- Maintain accurate attendance records, behavior notes, incident reports, and other required documentation.
- Keep the classroom clean, organized, and sanitized, including toys, tables, and learning materials.
- Assist with cleaning common areas, including eating areas and bathrooms, as assigned.
- Follow child-to-staff ratios, health and safety procedures, and center policies.
- Complete required training and professional development by established deadlines.
- Assist in other classrooms as needed to support staffing, ratios, and daily center operations.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in childcare or early childhood education required.
- CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with a team.
- Patience, compassion, and a genuine love for working with children.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing needs and priorities
- Must clear full background check and must pass health screening.
Nice to Have
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field
- Child Development Associate (CDA)
