What You'll Do
The Universal Pre-K Teacher will plan and implement high-quality, developmentally appropriate instruction aligned with New Jersey Preschool Teaching and Learning Standards while working in partnership with the Flemington-Raritan School District.
The ideal candidate will create a classroom that supports children's academic, social-emotional, language, cognitive, and physical development while fostering a lifelong love of learning.
Responsibilities
- Plan and implement engaging, developmentally appropriate lesson plans aligned with the Universal Preschool curriculum.
- Create a safe, nurturing, inclusive, and stimulating classroom environment.
- Implement the Pyramid Model to promote positive social-emotional development and classroom behavior.
- Utilize Teaching Strategies GOLD® to observe, assess, and document children's developmental progress.
- Implement Tools of the Mind instructional practices to support executive functioning, self-regulation, literacy, and school readiness.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the individual needs of every child.
- Build strong partnerships with families through ongoing communication and conferences.
- Maintain accurate student records, assessments, and documentation.
- Collaborate with school district personnel, administrators, instructional coaches, and support staff.
- Participate in required professional development, staff meetings, and district trainings.
- Ensure compliance with all New Jersey Department of Education, state licensing, and program requirements.
- Foster a classroom culture that encourages curiosity, creativity, independence, and respect.
Requirements
Required:
- Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field
- New Jersey Preschool through Grade 3 (P-3) Teaching Certification or eligibility
- Experience teaching preschool or pre-kindergarten children
- Knowledge of the Pyramid Model
- Experience using Teaching Strategies GOLD® assessment system
- Knowledge of Tools of the Mind curriculum and instructional practices
- Strong classroom management and organizational skills
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
Preferred
- Experience teaching in a Universal Preschool or NJDOE-funded preschool program
- Experience collaborating with public school districts
- CPR and First Aid Certification
