About This Role

Universal Leadership and STEAM Academy in Irmo, SC is hiring a Preschool Director to oversee early childhood education programming. This leadership role requires a Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field and offers $20 – $23/Hr.

The Preschool Director is responsible for the overall leadership, administration, and daily operation of the preschool program. The Director ensures compliance with Head Start Program Performance Standards, South Carolina childcare licensing regulations, and agency policies while providing leadership to staff, maintaining quality programming, supporting families, and ensuring positive outcomes for children.

What You'll Do

Oversee daily operations of the preschool and ensure compliance with licensing and HSPPS.
Supervise, coach, evaluate, and support teaching staff.
Monitor classroom quality, ratios, and curriculum implementation.
Develop staff schedules and oversee enrollment and attendance.
Maintain program records and prepare for monitoring visits and audits.
Ensure compliance with health, safety, nutrition, and sanitation requirements.
Manage budgets, purchasing, and classroom resources.
Foster positive relationships with families and community partners.
Coordinate professional development and staff meetings.
Address parent concerns, staffing issues, and operational challenges.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Education, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
Three to five years of supervisory experience in early childhood education.
Knowledge of Head Start Program Performance Standards, DSS licensing regulations, and quality improvement practices.
Strong leadership, organizational, communication, and conflict-resolution skills.
Current CPR/First Aid certification (or ability to obtain).
SLED/FBI background clearance and Central Registry clearance.
Experience with classroom observations, staff coaching, and compliance monitoring.
