What You'll Do

Key Responsibilities

As a Lead Pre-kindergarten Teacher, you will be instrumental in shaping the educational experience of our pre-kindergarten children. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Curriculum Development & Implementation: Planning and executing age-appropriate, engaging, and play-based lesson plans that align with New York State Pre-kindergarten Foundation for the Common Core, fostering cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development.
  • Classroom Leadership & Management: Creating and maintaining a lively, organized, and safe classroom environment that encourages participation, positive behavior, and a love for learning.
  • Child Safety & Well-being: Ensuring the health, safety, and supervision of all children at all times, adhering to all New York State Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS) regulations.
  • Family Communication & Engagement: Building strong, communicative partnerships with families through regular updates, parent-teacher conferences, and open-door policies to support each child's development.
  • Child Observation & Assessment: Documenting children's progress, conducting ongoing assessments, and adapting teaching strategies to meet individual needs, including children with diverse learning abilities.
  • Team Collaboration: Working cooperatively with assistant teachers and center leadership to ensure a cohesive and supportive educational experience for all children.
  • Professional Development: Actively participating in staff meetings, training sessions, and continuous professional growth opportunities to enhance teaching practices.

Requirements

  • Degree in Early Childhood Education, Childhood Education (Birth-2), or a related field.
  • Successful completion of a New York State Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS) criminal background check and fingerprinting.
  • Current and valid certification in CPR and First Aid, including training specifically for infants and children (or willingness to obtain promptly upon hire).
  • Medical clearance, including a recent physical examination and tuberculosis (TB) test.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • NYS Teacher Certification (e.g., Early Childhood B-2, or Students with Disabilities B-2).
  • Experience working with preschool/pre-k children in a licensed childcare setting.
  • Experience working with children with special education needs or an understanding of inclusive practices.

Nice to Have

  • 2+ year early childhood teaching experience
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
