Assistant Center Director / Sr. Lead Teacher (Salaried)
About This Role
The Assistant Center Director / Sr. Lead Teacher serves in a dual leadership and classroom role within the center. This position supports the overall daily operations of the childcare center while also functioning as a lead teacher in the classroom when not actively performing administrative or director-level responsibilities.
This role is considered a salaried exempt management position and is expected to exercise independent judgment, leadership, and supervisory responsibilities consistent with applicable labor regulations.

What You'll Do
Essential Leadership Responsibilities
Assist in overseeing daily center operations
Help maintain compliance with all Georgia DECAL licensing requirements
Support staff scheduling and classroom coverage
Supervise staff and provide coaching and guidance
Assist with onboarding and training of new employees
Help ensure classrooms remain ratio compliant at all times
Address parent concerns professionally and timely
Support center safety, cleanliness, and emergency preparedness
Maintain professionalism and confidentiality
Assist with center documentation, incident reports, attendance records, and child files
Monitor classroom quality and teacher performance
Step into the Center Director role when delegated or when the Director is absent
Help maintain a positive workplace culture aligned with the mission of the center
Daily Responsibilities as Sr. Lead Teacher
Lead and manage an assigned classroom
Implement lesson plans and age-appropriate curriculum
Maintain active supervision of children at all times
Foster positive classroom management and engagement
Conduct classroom activities that support learning and development
Ensure classroom cleanliness, organization, and readiness
Complete daily child reports and classroom documentation
Communicate professionally with parents regarding children’s progress and daily activities
Support potty training, meal supervision, transitions, and nap routines as applicable
Maintain compliance with all health and safety procedures
Model professionalism and strong teaching practices for other staff members
Assist assistant teachers and floaters with classroom guidance and structure
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field
Minimum of 3 years of experience in a licensed childcare setting
Minimum of 3 years of supervisory or leadership experience in a childcare environment
Strong communication and organizational skills
Ability to multitask and lead in a fast-paced environment

Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field
Knowledge of Georgia DECAL licensing standards and compliance requirements
Strong leadership, classroom management, and staff development experience
Completion of Georgia DECAL approved 40-Hour Director Training preferred
