Position Overview

Our Grade 1 Teacher will create a warm, engaging, and developmentally responsive learning environment where students are encouraged to explore, collaborate, ask questions, and grow academically, socially, and emotionally.

This educator will integrate outdoor learning, hands-on experiences, and project-based investigations into daily instruction.

What You'll Do

Key Responsibilities:


  • Design and facilitate meaningful, inquiry-based learning experiences aligned with Reggio-inspired practices
  • Foster a classroom culture centered on curiosity, creativity, kindness, and belonging
  • Incorporate outdoor and nature-based learning into weekly instruction and exploration
  • Observe, document, and reflect on children’s learning processes and development
  • Support foundational literacy, numeracy, and social-emotional growth in developmentally appropriate ways
  • Create engaging provocations and beautiful learning environments that inspire discovery
  • Collaborate closely with colleagues, school leadership, and families
  • Maintain strong communication with parents regarding student growth and classroom experiences
  • Encourage student voice, independence, and collaborative problem-solving
  • Participate in school events, professional development, and community-building activities

Requirements

Qualifications:


  • Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field
  • Valid teaching certification/license preferred but not required
  • Experience teaching early elementary students, preferably Grades K-1-2
  • Familiarity with or strong interest in the Reggio Emilia approach
  • Passion for outdoor education, gardening, nature walks, and experiential learning
  • Strong classroom management rooted in respect and relationship-building
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Creative, reflective, and flexible mindset
